Louisa County Genealogy

An enormous amount of genealogical information comes with four hundred years of history. We are pleased to be able to assist with genealogy research in a number the following ways:

Trained family history researchers are available at the Sargeant Museum by appointment on Thursday afternoons.  Our researchers can demonstrate how to find ancestors in public records available online, in our public library, in the genealogy books for Louisa County and Virginia, and at the county courthouse.  These appointments are designed to both help you locate a few records and, more importanly, launch you on your own search with confidence.

We offer periodic workshops in family history at the Sargeant Museum.  See our events page for upcoming programs.

If you are unable to come to our office, but would like our assistance, we ask that you download our Guide to Family History Research in Louisa County.  This guide explains our services and fees.
